Effect of Silica Content on Mechanical and Microstructure Behaviour of Resistance Spot Welded Advanced Automotive TRIP Steels

This research investigates the effect of SiC wt% on mechanical and microstructure behavior transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) 780 steels by resistance spot welding. The welded samples were characterized for their properties such as hardness, tensile shear, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, ductility ratio elongation. Results showed that width nugget was closely associated with shear failure welds. diffraction analysis illustrated weld chemical composition improved in heat-affected zones retained austenite detected due to influence Si C. Sample 4 exposed equiaxed dimple finer dendrites fusion zone. It also exhibited maximum force fracture energy. amount both displacement energy absorption has 51?%. Nano hardness significantly decreased zone sample interface among micro alloying elements formation nonmetallic presences affected TRIP steel hardness. Hardness casted is 15.5?% higher than base steel. Low ratios observed other strength (TSS) cross-tension (CTS) results. Cross-tension 5 29.8?%, 17.8?% 1. Fracture ductile dimples surface. spot-welded are correlated elements, mainly existing through cooling phase welding process.
